Snow, denial and Christmas vacation

Here's a link to get you in the mood...

It is snowing. Only a bit. But it's snowing. I know that this happens every year - but each year I am surprised by it. I also continue to wear spring attire until I nearly contract frost bite on my digits and finally give into the winter garb. This usually happens on a day when I am forced to either clean off my car (this tends to hurt the fingers after a few minutes) or when I am outside and my anterior nose hairs freeze. This is a good indication that I should put on a coat. Maybe a matching balaclava... and the open toed shoes must be put away for a few months.

Spartan and I have planned our Christmas. Last year - our Christmas was so much fun! - he even decorated a little tree - which stayed up until July and was the cutest thing I've ever seen. Well - in actual fact he is - but the word "cute" doesn't really suit him... (more like dashing - which goes with the Christmas theme anyhoo...)

Here begins the three week countdown to my angel and the four week (plus two days) countdown to our Christmas! Hooray!!

How did you decide to take down the tree in July? If I had a tree up for that long it would have made it to the next Christmas.

p.s. the captcha for this comment is "flumpen" which sounds like a good word to have a definition made up for it.

My hometown, WhatEVERpeg, just spent another $2M trying to rebrand itself with a catchy slogan. A while ago they paid some fancy schmancy Ad Wizard in New York City $3M to come up with Spirited Energy...
*coyote howls in the distance

Well this time they came up with Start Living..which is supposed to hint at this place being affordable.

I was disapointed that they didn't accept my submission, Start SHOVELING!..
oh well, what are ya gonna do, it's Winter here too.

Ahhh, Christmas. A time for receiving, and getting jealous when your cousins get more money from granny than you do. A time for buying expensive gifts for people to make up for the fact that you don't actually know them well enough to buy them something they'll like. A time for cramming yourself into a department store with seventeen million other people and fighting over the socks for dad.

Do you think I'm jaded?

We're not doing Christmas anymore.

I's love to have snow! We hardly ever get it in SA, so my husband has never seen snow in his life. I've only seen it once, years and years ago.
