By the way, I scored a hefty 95% on your booze test.

Go figure.

I got 83% too. But you know why? That stupid fucking tequila question. North America's first indigenous distilled spirit?

Since when is Mexico no longer part of Central America?? If I'd known the geography was plain fucking stupid, I would probably have got that one right, but I ruled tequila out because it's central, not north america...

Grrrrrr.

Great WV though: sgooufu

Gotta take badger to school a little here:

Mexico IS a North American country. There is a North American continent and a South American continent. There is no such thing as a Central American Continent. Central America can be considered a geographic region of North America, but Mexico is not a part of it.

Geographically, Central America is made up of the countries that occupy the narrow isthmus of land between Mexico and Columbia. It consists of the countries of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. Mexico, generally, has never been a part of Central America either physically or politically.

A few historians/geographers MAY consider some of the Southern states of Mexico to be part of Central America, but most omit it. That's may be the source of confusion.

And tequila is wonderfully North American.

You just fried my brain. I thought that the Americas was the continent, with north, south and central as sub-continents. I see now my error; if you look here, I was thinking of the version of five continents (not including Antarctic) with America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa. There's quite a few ways of looking at the continents, as the Wikipedia page shows.
We're often taught over here that Mexico is Central America, I've heard it said quite a few times. Perhaps the division is, from this side of the sea, suggested by language and cultural divide as much as (or more than) the landmasses? That would explain some of my confusion, certainly.
Anyway, ta for the lesson Earl.
Anything you want to know about Europe... Use Google, I'm rubbish!

Um. I say we drink some tequila and sing christmas carols! Yay!

Aha...I understand. Didn't realize that some folks consider the Americas to be just one continent.

Good rule o' thumb - all of Central America is located within North America. So Panamanians are exactly the same as Canadians.

Except they are less annoying. ;)

Right Liz?
