Leg waxxing and other fun stuff...

I decided to wax my Mother's legs for her the other day - being the kind daughter that I am. So I went about very nicely waxing her first leg....marvelous (apart from the screaming)! But then we ran into a little snag... ran out of wax. Oopsy. Not a problem - went online and got a recipe for sugaring. Had to substitute a few ingredients we didn't have on hand. -- May I just take this moment to suggest that sometimes this doesn't work out. -- We ended up with this tar like substance (actually tasted great on toast) that was thick and sticky and really didn't do much but cause my Mother to look like she was about to be tarred and feathered. Problem was - it didn't really come off. After 3 showers and much scrubbing it did but the hair remained.
No problem. We'll just get more wax... but then life got in the way and I forgot. So Mum went for a week with one leg smooth like a baby's bottom and one yeti style. Finally got back to it so now Mum doesn't have to wear her pants like a rapper. (one leg up, one leg down).

In other news... potty training success! I never thought I'd be so happy to see a poop. (Other than when they are newborn and you fear they might be constipated and then -- tada! This is only close to the relief I felt when I got an hour of consecutive sleep at that point.) I am almost at the point of not having to buy diapers and this a great cause for celebration. What a good kid I have. Unfortunately for me - I have to bribe her with suckers.... anyone ever seen a 2 year old kid at bedtime who has had 5 suckers? Can anyone say sugar high? Lucky for me and my desire to sleep I have found sugarless suckers. I am one happy Mommy today.

Youre lucky with the potty training... my son is 3 1/2 and, after finally being potty trained for about 3 months, decided a few months ago that he'd rather hold it all day and just go in his pullup at night. It's been real fun dealing with THAT shit (literally...)

wow. you really love your mom. i draw the line at personal grooming especially depilatory type activities. i'm impressed. hurray for the wee one and the poop. being child-less and generally living solo, i am never all that interested in other people's bowel movements, but for today...i share your joy. mainly b/c then you might not ever bring it up again :-)

slyde - fun hey? My son was actually easier than my daughter. He's just a really easy going kid..."Pee in the potty? Ok." and that was that - but then he did regress slightly when he started school (they start em early in Montessori). Partly because I think he was uncomfortable asking anyone other than me to help him go potty - makes sense really. My son was 2 1/2 and it looks like my daughter will be right about the same. Most kids are potty trained somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2.

funchilde - now I'll make sure pooping is a weekly feature (pour vous)

My neice is the same age as Slyde's son and she is doing the exact same thing. She started to go on the potty then regressed to where she changes herself into a pullup every night right before bed, craps in it, then finds nearest adult to change her.

When nearest adult is Uncle Earl, I die a little inside.

See now, I'd make them wear it a while. I know that sounds mean but - I would.

I just can't get my daughter to actually go...she'll sit, clothed and diapered and pretend to go and pretend to wipe-but it doesn't stretch much beyond that. I figure (ok I hope) she'll just 'get' it one day and never look back. I can dream can't I???
