So lookie lookie what was down behind the hot tub. Pulled up the tarp and uh - oh! What the.... are those freakin ferrets?? Then I had to throw myself nearly upside down in a very cirque de soleil style to retrieve them from where they had gotten wedged. I nearly got wedged along side them. A few bruises later.... tada!! They were none to happy about it. Trilling and crying the entire time. I placed them in a shallow laundry basket wrapped in an old towel to await mum safely atop the hot tub. With the amount of noise they were making I am surprised she didn't attack me while I was getting them unstuck.
I hope she comes soon... otherwise I will be Elizadolittling it up by making them a temporary home in the greenhouse until they are old enough to go free. I don't really wanna do that...yikes.

Aww they are so cute! Do they open their eyes?
It's unusual mom isn't around.
If you raise them in the greenhouse, you *have* to take pics of them growing up.
Nope. They are too little yet... probably in a week or two. Hopefully mom will come back tonight... I'll keep you posted.
IF I do raise em - which I really don't want to do - I will take pics of them. Likely I'll try to get them to go to a wild life rehab place or another. But I might have to give them a good sound cuddling first.
Its not nice to fool with Mother Nature.....you have been warned....
Not nice of mother nature to hide her raccoon babies in my hot tub tarp...
Don't worry I'm trying to give them back. (pray for me)
awe that is too precious. The mamma is going to panick (if she makes it back).
What have you named them? ;)~
I left them right where she had them to try to avoid her getting to upset... hope she comes back. Poor wee furballs.
Didn't name em - felt too "pettish"... any suggestions?
Just checked... - momma came back... hope she takes her babies away somewhere safe!!! HOORAY!
She's gotta be about 50 pounds. Glad she didn't come back when I was up there!!
;-)
Raccoon babies are cute. Until they get a little bigger. Then they become dangerous wild animals.
My brother rescued 4 baby raccoons from a chimney some years ago. He raised them to adulthood in a pen in the backyard, then released three of them in the wild.
The other took a liking to a friend of his, so he gave it to the guy. He lived on a boat in a marina and this...this...thing lived there with him. It would follow him around the beach all day and night like a puppy.
Don't know how long he had that thing, but his boat smelled like raccoon shit and piss all the time. I would have nightmares about waking up with raccoon teeth on my throat.
No. No. No. No. No. Wild animals!
yeah, they are cute as babies, but once they are grown.... look out.
Yep. Well, mummy came and got her pups. She has safely relocated them to a nearby hollow tree. Hooray.
aw... how cute! smart mom though, she found a cush spot to keep them for a while.
Yeah - much better than the first place. I've been leaving her apples in the backyard... hope it doesn't make her bigger *shivers*
